This restaurant website design project was for Mandi'z, a restaurant in Saudi Arabia serving traditional Mandi, Kabsa, Jareesh and Qahwa. The site shows the menu by category, tells the restaurant's story, shares real customer reviews, and lets people order for delivery or pickup with a short form — no app, no account.

The challenge

Mandi'z is a restaurant in Saudi Arabia that serves authentic Saudi and Middle Eastern food: smoky Mandi, fragrant Kabsa, creamy Jareesh, crispy Mutabbaq and traditional Qahwa (Arabic coffee). Its promise is "where tradition meets taste" — generations-old recipes, authentic Saudi spices and fresh ingredients.

Restaurant customers decide fast, usually on a phone, often when they are already hungry. The brief reflected that:

  1. Show the food first. People want to see the dishes and what is in them before anything else.
  2. A menu that is easy to scan. Mandi alone comes in several versions — beef, chicken, laham, special and big. The menu had to be grouped so nobody scrolls through everything.
  3. Ordering without friction. Many restaurants rely only on delivery apps, which take a commission on every order. Mandi'z wanted a direct way to take orders from its own website.
  4. Delivery or pickup, and simple payment. Customers should choose delivery or pickup, and pay at the restaurant or cash on delivery.
  5. Tell the story. For a traditional restaurant, the history and the cooking method are part of what people are buying.

Why restaurant websites often fail#

Many restaurant sites are a slideshow, a PDF menu and a phone number. That is slow on mobile and gives people no easy way to order. Good restaurant website design puts the menu on the page and the order button next to it.

What we built

We built a single, menu-first website with a clear path from "I'm hungry" to "order placed".

Structure#

  • Home — welcome, signature dishes and an Order Now button.
  • About Us — "Where Tradition Meets Timeless Flavor": the recipes, spices and cooking methods.
  • Menu — dishes grouped by category.
  • Testimonials — real customer reviews.
  • Videos — a "Watch Our Story" section.
  • Contact Us — location and contact details.

Signature dishes#

Four dishes are introduced on the home page, each with a one-line description:

  • Kabsa — fragrant rice with slow-cooked meat and traditional spices.
  • Mandi — smoky, tender lamb with saffron rice.
  • Jareesh — creamy cracked wheat with meat and spices.
  • Mutabbaq — crispy, savoury stuffed pancakes.

A menu grouped the way people order#

The full menu is split into tabs — Appetizers, Mandi, Kabsa and Qahwa — with a short description for each dish. Mandi lovers see all five Mandi options together: beef, chicken, laham, special and big.

Order directly from the site#

The "Order Now – Quick & Easy" form asks only for:

  1. Name and phone number.
  2. Dish category and quantity.
  3. Any special instructions.
  4. Delivery or pickup.
  5. Payment: pay at Mandi'z, or cash on delivery.

No account, no app download, no commission to a delivery platform on these orders.

Social proof#

Customer reviews sit near the order form — for example, praise for the Mandi and for quick delivery — so new customers see what others think right before they order.

Why it works ("Why Choose Us")#

Three short points: 100% authentic Saudi ingredients, fresh and handmade daily, and fast delivery with easy online ordering.

Decisions that mattered#

  • Menu on the page, not in a PDF. Easy to read on any phone.
  • A direct order form. Orders come straight to the restaurant.
  • Delivery and pickup, with cash or pay-at-store. Matches how local customers like to pay.
  • Story and reviews close to the order button. Builds appetite and trust at the same moment.

This site is not online at the moment; this write-up is based on the version that was live in July 2025.

Questions about this project

What should a restaurant website have?
A readable menu on the page (not a PDF), signature dishes with photos, customer reviews, location and hours, and a simple way to order. Mandi'z had all of these on one site.
Can a restaurant take orders without a delivery app?
Yes. Mandi'z used a short order form for delivery or pickup, with cash on delivery or pay at the restaurant. Orders went straight to the restaurant without app commission.
How long does a restaurant website take to build?
A menu-first restaurant site like this usually takes two to three weeks once the menu and photos are ready.
